China's shoe capital goes online

By Su Zhou | China Daily | Updated: 2014-11-19 07:09

Internet focus and Taobao villages transform Wenzhou into an e-commerce hub, Su Zhou reports.

The chairman of Aokang Group, a shoemaker based in Wenzhou, packed goods alongside factory workers for Double 11 or Singles' Day, China's online shopping festival equivalent to Cyber Monday.

At 30 seconds after midnight on Nov 11, Aokang received the first order for the annual shopping spree and the chairman, Wang Zhentao, packed the parcel and handed it to the delivery person.
