Culture: The latest prequel in the popular Boonie Bears movie series, due to be screened early next year, drew a media crowd when the producers invited popular Chinese-Malaysian singer-songwriter Gary Chaw and his two children as "spokesmen". The film chronicles the growing-up experiences of the bear brothers Briar and Bramble and their rival, Logger Vick, a lumberjack who tries to chop down trees in the bears' natural habitat.

Buzzword: "Powerdisking" refers to watching several episodes of a TV show in a row, usually from a DVD box set. This can be done over several evenings or a weekend.

Bilingual news: As further proof that you can now print practically anything in 3-D, a company called Natural Machines has introduced such a printer for food. The "Foodini" isn't that different from a regular 3-D printer, but instead of printing with plastics, it uses edible ingredients squeezed out of stainless steel capsules. At the Web Summit technology conference in Dublin, Ireland, the Barcelona-based startup displayed the machine, which it says is the only one of its kind that can print a wide range of dishes.
