Years of care are seed for farm idea

Cai Cengma, chairwoman of Delingha Herdsman Welfare Co, knows firsthand the difficulties the disabled face in their daily lives, as she cared for her paralyzed father-in-law who was bedridden for 17 years.

She established the company, which is mainly engaged in piglet breeding and pig fattening and growing and selling vegetables, in 2003, as a way to help the disabled.

Since its inception, the company has donated nearly 1,200 pigs, worth 1.8 million yuan ($293,600), to the poor and the disabled, and helped more than 300 people gain employment.
