Blood samples to help reunite infants with parents

By Zhang Yan | China Daily | Updated: 2014-11-08 08:34

Police will take blood samples from 11 abducted infants rescued in a recent operation against a cross-province trafficking ring in Yunnan province, in order to reunite them with their blood parents, a senior official from the Ministry of Public Security said.

The children, aged from 5 days to 1 month when they were rescued between May and August, and including four baby girls, are being looked after in a children's welfare institute in Kaiyuan, Yunnan province, according to the Kaiyuan Public Security Department.

"Police officers will collect their blood samples and match them with a national DNA blood database to help them find their biological parents," Chen Shiqu, director of the anti-human trafficking office of the ministry's criminal investigation department, said.
