Court action targets strike
German state-owned railway operator Deutsche Bahn will take legal action against a train drivers' union staging a four-day strike from Thursday to Monday that has paralyzed passenger and freight transport across the country. Govt summons envoy on report
Pakistan summoned the US ambassador to reject allegations in a Pentagon report that Islamabad supports militant proxies in neighboring India and Afghanistan, a foreign ministry statement said on Thursday. The US Defense Department report, titled Progress Towards Security and Stability in Afghanistan, said militants continue to enjoy safe havens in Pakistan, which uses the fighters as a hedge against its loss of influence in Afghanistan and as a counterweight to India's superior military.
