Uniforms blend traditional, modern styles

The uniform of volunteers for the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings, being hosted in Beijing from Wednesday through 11, was unveiled on Saturday morning at Beijing Capital International Airport.

Designed by teachers from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, the uniform has indoor and outdoor styles. The design is a blend of Chinese traditional culture and modern fashion.

"In keeping with international practice and business etiquette, the indoor uniform is a black suit with a standing collar. The left side near the chest has the five-color logo of the APEC Conference and a volunteer's badge," said Wan Lan, one of the designers.
