Photo: Wei Shaoxian, a farmer from Handan, Hebei province, is an avid collector of "red classics" - movies that portray the Chinese people's revolutionary spirit and patriotism during the wars of national independence and liberation. He has more than 5,000 movies and documentaries, including 500 that are rare. Wei shares his hobby by arranging public screenings. He has staged more than 3,000 shows for 100,000 people in a dozen cities and provinces, including Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, since 2005.
Bilingual news: Scientists at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom say they have discovered the secret of happiness - it all comes down to a gene that regulates the level of a hormonelike substance called serotonin in the brain. Short forms of the gene lower the amount of serotonin, and this can cause depression. Those with longer forms of the gene have higher levels, and are more likely to be happy.
