Like a fistic phoenix, Xiong Chaozhong has risen from the flames every time his boxing career appeared to be torched - but it's been something of a roller-coaster ride.

After going 14-1-1 from 2006-08, the pint-sized power puncher from Kunming, Yunnan province, dropped back-to-back decisions in 2009: a 12-rounder to Japan's Daisuke Naito for the WBC world flyweight title in May, followed by a 10-round loss to contender Takuya Kogawa two months later.
