Speedy response to terror in Hotan

Hotan, a city in southern Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, has set up a special police troop to tackle terrorist threats.

The troop, with 50 members equipped with 20 high-powered police motorcycles, is divided into 20 groups under two squadrons. The officers will be armed.

President Xi Jinping urged police officers in the region to devise "effective ways" to deal with terrorists.
