Good news for restructuring

A slowdown in economic growth is not necessarily bad news; it could be a good opportunity for structural adjustment. The State needs to know that a GDP growth rate between 6.5 to 7 percent is normal, and that it should improve the quality and optimize the structure of Chinese economy.

The 7.3 percent growth rate has much to do with the huge economic base number of last year, and that rate is expected to rise again with the central leadership adopting stabilizing policies. However, risks still exist - the realty sector boom in the past and the resultant overcapacity will constrain China's economy. Only when all the problems are solved can the economy become truly healthy.
