A 57-year-old iron and steel company in Hebei province began moving on Friday from city center to a faraway area surrounded by mountains, in an attempt to reduce the province's serious air pollution.
Shijiazhuang Iron and Steel, which was located in the suburbs when it was established in 1957, now occupies a central position in Shijiazhuang, the provincial capital.
Residents complain about emissions, although the company has done a good job of creating an environmentally friendly production process, Wang Liping, its chairman, said in a report on Monday by China Business News.
