A mother from Hunan province went to Beijing and worked as a street cleaner to earn money so she could repay money stolen by her son, according to Beijing Times. The son, a former president of the student union at Peking University Law School, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for stealing more than 100 items on campus, such as laptop computers and jewelry. The son said he came from a poor family and was trying to get money to provide a better life for his girlfriend.
