Govt: only weather stations should publish forecasts

China Daily | Updated: 2014-10-11 07:40

Only meteorological stations would be allowed to release forecasts in China under a draft proposal released by the National Meteorological Administration.

Public opinion on the draft, which has been published online since Sept 30, is being sought until Oct 30. Residents are encouraged to give feedback through websites of the administration and the Legal Affairs Office of the State Council.

According to the draft, no other organizations or individuals are allowed to publish meteorological forecasts to the public in any form. Violators would face fines of up to 50,000 yuan ($8,155).
