Bilingual: The Internet moves quickly. Rumors emerge, whether intentionally or not. They spread, whether intentionally or not. Rumors, like wildfire, once sparked, not only spread quickly but are also difficult to contain. And on top of everything else, it is extremely hard to predict which direction they'll take as they spread. Emergent.info, a website launched on Sept 28, after two months of testing and data-gathering, is hoping to change that by tracking rumors that arise in (pretty much) real time.
News talk: China's personal saving rate has risen steadily since the mid-90s, and now exceeds 50 percent, much higher than some developed countries and more than 10 times the United States' saving rate. However, most Chinese don't like paying bills separately when dining out. One of them usually pays, and generously, especially when dining together with friends or relatives.
