Obama backs stable, constructive ties

US President Barack Obama expressed his commitment to building a stable and constructive US-China relationship, according to a statement from the White House on Wednesday.

Obama made the statement when he joined a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and US National Security Adviser Susan Rice in the White House.

The statement said Obama cited climate change, the Ebola epidemic and countering the threat posed by terrorists, particularly the Islamic State, as areas for cooperation.
