Good salaries and rapid promotion are luring Chinese graduates majoring in French to Africa as Sino-African economic ties grow rapidly.
Wang Zhantao, who majored in French at Xi'an International Studies University in Shaanxi province and who has worked for two years for communication giant Huawei in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, said he was attracted by the salary and French-speaking environment.
New graduates majoring in French can earn up to 200,000 yuan ($32,000) a year in Africa, Wang said, adding that he earns three times more than his counterparts who also studied the language at college but who work in China.
