Kvitova, Bouchard advance in Wuhan

By Agence France-Presse in Wuhan, China | China Daily | Updated: 2014-09-26 07:04

World No 3 Petra Kvitova overcame Caroline Garcia to power through to the semi-finals of the $2.4 million WTA Wuhan Open on Thursday, while Canadian sixth seed Eugenie Bouchard also made it into the last four.

Garcia had performed heroics at the inaugural tournament, beating Venus Williams and world No 6 Agnieszka Radwanska to make the quarterfinals, but the Wimbledon champion proved to be too much for the 20-year-old.

Garcia took only one game in the opening five before Kvitova, the third seed, went on to win the set 6-3.
