A new documentary on Deng Xiaoping will unveil firsthand historical materials while exploring the inner world of the late leader through storytelling.

At a recent news conference in Beijing, chief writer of the documentary Long Ping-ping said the 20-episode documentary, which will air on China Central Television, focuses on Deng's personal belongings, such as his clothes and letters, with the stories in each episode centered on the objects.

Long, an expert on Deng and his theories at the Party Literature Research Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, is also the chief scriptwriter of a popular 48-episode TV series on the leader that is being aired at prime time on CCTV.
