Man threatened to blow up shopping mall

A man has been arrested on a charge of extortion after threatening to detonate two bombs on Aug 24 at Yinji Shopping Mall in Zhengzhou, if he did not receive 1 million yuan ($163,000). Police say the man, whose surname is Chen, lowered his demand to 500,000 yuan after negotiations, during which time they discovered there were no bombs. Chen was later caught and confessed.
