'Prisoners' dine out on life behind bars

By Bao Wanxian in Tianjin | China Daily | Updated: 2014-09-13 07:41

A taste of prison life, complete with food served through hatches, is being dished up for customers who relish the guilty pleasures of dining in a jail-themed restaurant where incarceration is on the menu.

The ambience is, to say the least, arresting. Iron grills divide the tables, dark-colored wallpaper adds to a sense of imprisonment, as do the waitresses dressed in police uniforms.

The restaurant in Tianjin opened on Sept 6, and thousands of diners have served time on the premises.
