About 55 percent of the 1,853 people polled by China Youth Daily felt that there had been a marked drop in spending of public funds on mooncakes. At Mid-Autumn Festival, which fell on Monday this year, Chinese families reunite under the full moon. The mooncakes associated with the festival have become a currency for bribery. Before the festival, authorities reiterated the ban on using public funds to buy mooncakes and other kinds of gifts.
