Tourists left 45 metric tons of garbage on the beaches of the seaside city of Sanya, Hainan province, on Monday, the day of Mid-Autumn Festival. The city's environmental sanitation department set up 15,000 temporary trash cans along the beaches and handed out another 10,000 garbage bags to visitors. It took three and a half hours for 1,220 workers and volunteers to clean up the beaches early Tuesday morning.
