Youthful audience warms to studies

Students are increasingly being drawn to Sinology to rediscover Chinese culture.

Sinology, which covers subjects such as Chinese philosophy, epigraphy and cultural inheritance, seems more suited to established scholars with long lists of seminars and esoteric academic papers on their resumes.

However, the popularity of senior Sinologists among students at the World Sinology Conference suggests that Sinology holds great appeal for China's younger generation, which is looking for a fresh perspective on the country and its history.
