Biomedical industry gives boost to economic zone

To boost the development of the Advanced Manufacturing Base of Western Straits Economic Zone, Haicang district has focused on the bio-pharmaceutical industry and invested heavily in the construction of Xiamen Bio Bay since 2012.

The 10-square-kilometer bay area is home to 93 bio-pharmaceutical enterprises, of which 29 reached the designated size, according to the area's website.

Xiamen Bio Bay has one post-doctoral workstation, six provincial or municipal enterprise technical centers, a Fujian-Taiwan (Xiamen) bio-pharmaceutical cooperation base and a national torch plan bio-pharmaceutical characteristic industry base.
