Haicang appealing more to investors and residents

By Hu Meidong and Zhang Zhao | China Daily | Updated: 2014-09-05 07:21

Years ago traffic police on Haicang Bridge noticed that every morning cars would rush from Xiamen Island to the city's Haicang district and in the evening the traffic would flow the opposite way.

Today the traffic moves in both directions in the morning and evening as more people live in the traditional port and industrial area of Haicang.

Officials said many families moved following the authority's strategy to restructure the local economy and build "a new home" area in the former industrial zone.
