By Gao Bo in Urumqi | China Daily | Updated: 2014-09-02 07:22

Employees at Fengqingyuan Biotech Co set up anti-bird nets at the company's 300 mu (20 hectare) goji berry plot in Fukang city, in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Dong Kaiyuan, president of the company, said birds were his biggest concern.

"The birds caused at least 1 million yuan ($162,766) of losses last year," Dong said. "We tried many methods to get rid of them but failed."
