Former CSRC official to head Shenzhen exchange

Wu Lijun, assistant chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission, will step down and assume the position of Party secretary and president of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, according to a statement by the CSRC on Monday. Chen Dongzheng, current Party secretary and president of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, is stepping down for reasons of age, the commission said. CSRC Chairman Xiao Gang said the adjustment shows the Central Party and the State Council are paying attention to building the capital market and that as market reform deepens, the stock exchange will take on heavier responsibilities.
