By Ma Lie in Xi'an | China Daily | Updated: 2014-08-30 08:04

Doctors in Xijing Hospital at the Fourth Military Medical University in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, successfully repaired a patient's skull with 3-D printing technology.

The patient, surnamed Hu, a 46-year-old farmer from Zhouzhi county in Xi'an, fractured his skull when he fell from the third floor of his house as he worked on it last October.

Hu was taken to the county hospital, where doctors removed some of the shattered pieces of his skull. His life was saved, but the left side of his head was deeply indented, causing physical problems.
