Plan to cover cost of medicine aims to help smokers kick habit

Authorities in Guangdong province are studying the possibility of including treatment and medicine for quitting smoking in the medical insurance system.

Ma Wenjun, a member of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the proposal earlier this month to encourage people to quit smoking.

The Guangdong Commission of Health and Family Planning said it would take time to further study the possibility.
