Tech experts advocate value of competition

By Luo Wangshu | China Daily | Updated: 2014-08-25 07:00

A professor of industrial design sees the value of learning beyond the classroom environment, and encourages students to learn through international competition as they pit their design wits against other students.

"Students learn to be more creative through competition," said Liao Wei, vice-dean of the College of Art and Design at the Beijing University of Technology.

The professor speaks highly of an international competition called the Formula E Design Championship. This requires participants to use rubber bands in their designs of racing cars that run on electricity.
