"The lingering drought in Northeast China will have a negligible impact on the country's overall harvest."

Pan Wenbo, deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture's department of crop production, said on Friday. He said the drought will cut harvests in the affected regions but the nationwide production figures will barely be affected. As of Thursday, the drought had affected 2.73 million hectares of crops, more than half of them severely.
