Time line
China and Mongolia established diplomatic ties in 1949, and there has been constant progress in their relationship since they revised and signed the Treaty on Friendly Relations and Cooperation in 1994. The countries have a good record of high-level exchanges.
2003: Then-president Hu Jintao visited Mongolia, and the two sides agreed to establish a good-neighbor partnership of mutual trust.
April and May 2010: Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj paid a state visit to China and attended the opening ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo.
