By Chen Hong in Shenzhen, Guangdong | China Daily | Updated: 2014-08-20 07:18

Shenzhen is looking to set up the first intellectual property court on the Chinese mainland to deal with the rapidly increasing number of cases concerning IP rights violations.

The local government agreed to set up a specialized court to hear IP cases, but the plans need final approval from the Supreme People's Court, Nanfang Daily reported.

Guo Xiaoming, president of the Shenzhen Patent Association and a local legislative member, said the city was an ideal location for the court.
