By Luo Wangshu and Su Zhou | China Daily | Updated: 2014-08-20 07:11

Beijing has launched a yearlong "maker" season to encourage innovation and turn ideas from the general public into reality.

"Maker" refers to creative people, such as inventors and designers, who "make" dreams come true.

Organizers hope that by bringing the expertise behind modern technology into a public forum, science will be exposed to a wider public audience and trigger even more innovation.
