Families looking at brighter prospects

China Daily | Updated: 2014-08-18 07:25

Trinling Jampa,a 57-year-old resident on Qichi Street, has received governmental subsidies for over 10 years and is now expecting the reconstruction project to place him in a new home.

Trinling Jampa, who is deaf, and his family were unable to refurnish the original house of 60 square meters as the reconstruction of wooden houses had to get authorization from local government. Considering his limited financial resources, the government declined his application. But the reconstruction brought good news for him and his family as they would enjoy better amenities.

Trinling Jampa signed the agreement to demolish his old house and would get the same living space in the new building. The reconstruction office provided 300 yuan ($48) to move the furniture and other private possessions and he now lives in an affordable-housing apartment.
