Uncertain future for historical wetland

By Li Yang | China Daily | Updated: 2014-08-15 07:24

The largest wetland in North China, Baiyangdian in Heibei's Baoding city is an ideal holiday destination for people from Beijing and Tianjin.

Covering an area of nearly 400 square kilometers the wetland consists of about 100 lakes connected by 4,000 small rivers.

The wide expanse of water, dense plant land, organic freshwater foods and grains and clear air are some of Baiyangdian's features that have attracted visitors since the government built it into a provincial reserve in early 1990s.
