Bridges between mountains to serve monkeys

By Qi Xin in Zhengzhou | China Daily | Updated: 2014-08-12 08:17

Two sling bridges under construction between two mountains in Jiyuan, Henan province, will serve the wild monkeys in the area.

The project marks the first time in China that bridges for macaques will connect mountains, animal experts said. The project cost is 5 million yuan ($810,000).

Wang Xiangdong, director of the Jiyuan Administration of the Taihang Mountain National Nature Reserve in Henan province, said the bridges will go over a reservoir now under construction, an important part of the flood control system along the Yellow River. The reservoir will create a 600-hectare water area between the mountains.
