Microsoft employees sign request for layoff talks

A request for direct dialogue with company officials on layoff arrangements was signed by 550 Microsoft Corp employees at a handset development site in Beijing on Wednesday. Banners were draped inside the office building, calling on the employees to "stand together and fight against violent job cuts". They also asked the company to give six months' notice to employees before firing them to give them time to look for another job.
