China's Spring Airlines recently launched its first anime-themed flight in cooperation with Shanda Games, a Chinese operator of online games, to attract young consumers. The airline also plans to launch "moon-viewing" flights during Mid-Autumn Festival and blind-date services.

Buzzword: The acronym MAC refers to China's middle-class and affluent consumers, who are defined by the Boston Consulting Group as those with a monthly household income of more than 7,200 yuan ($1,167). Rising optimism of MACs in small Chinese cities has helped push overall consumer confidence in the nation to a record high, despite slowing economic growth, a new report said.
