The legendary Mandarin Oriental hotels are making their marks in China, with openings scheduled in Shenzhen, Beijing and Chengdu, and one already in business on the island of Taiwan. Xu Lin gets a first look in Taipei.

Taipei is a vibrant and modern Chinese city that attracts tourists with its rich, mixed cultural heritage and melting pot cuisine. The Mandarin Oriental, Taipei, which opened recently, is a key point to start experiencing the city's culture, arts, food and luxurious lifestyle.

This is the latest hotel in the Mandarin Oriental portfolio, and it took eight years to build.
