Ties with region 'vital'

Xi raised in his speech China's willingness to strengthen ties with Brazil and other Latin American countries.

"China is willing to join efforts with Brazil and other Latin American countries to become good partners that make progress together," he said.

Xi will meet leaders from the Latin American and Caribbean countries on Thursday and hold bilateral talks with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.
