Leaders' first meeting features upbeat tone

The first meeting between President Xi Jinping and new Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also the first major event for both leaders shortly after they landed in the Brazilian coastal city of Fortaleza.

Within about two hours of landing, Xi and Modi, who were in Fortaleza for a meeting of the BRICS nations, went into a room with smiles and high spirits. Cameras flashed as the two leaders shook hands.

Although it's the first meeting between the two leaders, it was not what some observers had thought - a mere get-acquainted meeting where some issues might be raised but nothing major.
