6,000 WeChat accounts
According to a report released on Sunday by the Communication University of China, there were 3,600 government WeChat accounts by the end of 2013. By March, the report said the number reached nearly 6,000. Chinese government agencies are opening more accounts on WeChat, an instant messaging application, to increase their online presence.
