Alibaba launching medicine verification scanner

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, China's e-commerce giant, has pushed further into the pharmaceutical data sector by launching services that help people identify fake medicines. The Hangzhou-based Alibaba Group said in a news release on Thursday that users of mobile Taobao and Alipay Wallet, two of the company's most widely used apps in China, can check the source of drugs by scanning the bar codes and pharmaceutical supervision codes on medication packaging.
