Evonik expands operations

Global provider of specialty chemicals, Evonik Industries, started operations at a new hydrogen peroxide plant this month in Jilin city, Jilin province.

The new plant has an annual capacity of 230,000 tons. Evonik invested more than 100 million euros ($139 million) in the site to raise its global capacity for hydrogen peroxide production to more than 900,000 tons per year.

"This investment further consolidates our market leadership for hydrogen peroxide," said Klaus Engel, executive board chairman of Evonik Industries, at the opening ceremony in Jilin.
