Chengdu in spotlight

With its rapid development and huge potential, southwestern China has been an important stop for many world leaders. Chengdu has had the honor of receiving many foreign leaders and dignitaries over the past decade.

Then-French president Jacques Chirac visited Chengdu in October 2004 and delivered a speech about economic partnership before heading to Beijing. Much of his visit was aimed at boosting trade links with China.
