S. Korean retailers wooing Chinese shoppers

Tidbits

Seoul retailers made no secret of their delight in President Xi Jinping's visit to South Korea, or more specifically, the chance to attract high-spending Chinese customers. Two major shopping malls, Hyundai and Lotte, offered discounts for Chinese customers in the name of Xi's visit on Thursday and Friday, South Korean media reported.

The Hyundai department store extended a "warm welcome" to Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, on Thursday, saying an extra 5-percent discount would be offered if customers use China UnionPay cards.
