Zion offers a rocky road to glory
Zion National Park in Utah in the United States is perhaps Mother Nature's favorite child. In fact, I felt that the entire state of Utah is blessed with some of those grand rocks.
One fine morning we left Las Vegas to drive up to Zion - a smooth drive of two to three hours, depending on the traffic. Geologists call it the Grand Staircase and it's a 60,000-hectare national park across the Colorado plateau - stretching all the way from the Grand Canyon in Arizona to Bryce Canyon in Utah. The rugged beauty of the sandstone walls and the massive rock arches took our breath away.
During the peak season of summer, May to October, no private vehicles are allowed to enter the park. So we parked in the designated areas and took a shuttle bus around the 10-kilometer road inside the park.
