Woo to steer new user-generated film

Hong Kong film maestro John Woo will work as the chief mentor of the cross-media project Entertainment Experience China, which was launched on June 23. Renowned directors He Ping and Xue Xiaolu, actress Zhang Ziyi and screenwriters Shu Huan and Liu Yiwei will also participate. Woo will direct and produce the first Chinese user-generated movie ever, with the assistance of fresh filmmaking talent and a general audience, who will help revise the script online and vote for actors. In 2012, director Paul Verhoeven headed up the project in The Netherlands, which resulted in the first user-generated movie, Tricked. The project is among the first of Dutch TV/Film formats to be localized to Chinese customs and standards through a joint venture cooperation between the Chinese provincial media group Heilongjiang Loong Media and FCCE Hong Kong.
