Taipei Mayor Hao Lung-bin called for more communication across the Taiwan Straits on Sunday to promote mutual understanding and stable relations. He made the remarks in Beijing at the end of a four-day visit to the mainland. He also lauded the visit to Taiwan last week by Zhang Zhijun, the mainland's Taiwan affairs chief, as "a major breakthrough in the development of cross-Straits ties".
